Bragança's main draw is its medieval citadel, a walled hilltop compound that is one of the best preserved in Portugal. Within the walls are the castle keep, the Domus Municipalis, and the pillory — enough to occupy a half day. Below the citadel, the Montesinho Natural Park begins just north of the city and rewards a day of hiking or driving through its stone villages.
