The terrace bars along the promenade are where Figueira da Foz does its summer evenings. Beer, ginjinha, and cocktails arrive as the light drops; the crowd builds from around nine; the Atlantic is somewhere in the dark beyond the tables. In peak season — July and August — the better spots fill up and stay that way until late.
Sunset is the ideal hour to arrive. The timing gives you a drink with the last of the light on the water, and a seat before the evening rush. Off-season most of the terraces close or scale back, but the ones that stay open feel genuinely local.
