Café Guardasol, on the seafront above Redonda Beach, is the long-standing local home of the francesinha poveira — Póvoa's adaptation of Porto's famous sandwich, lighter on the cheese and with a thinner, sharper sauce. The cafe occupies an old wooden beachfront pavilion and has changed remarkably little over the decades.
It works equally well for a coffee with a view of the sea, a long lunch, or an evening drink. A Póvoa institution.
