Getting There

Brasov sits on the main rail line between Bucharest and the rest of Transylvania. Direct InterCity trains from Bucharest take about two and a half hours and run roughly every two hours through the day; the line climbs spectacularly through the Carpathians, especially the stretch around Sinaia and Predeal. From Sighisoara, trains take two and a half to three hours; from Cluj, five.

Brasov-Ghimbav airport opened in 2023 with seasonal flights from a handful of European cities; otherwise, fly to Bucharest's Henri Coanda airport and take the train. The bus station for international and intercity coaches is at Autogara 1, behind the railway station; Autogara 2, on Strada Avram Iancu, handles routes into the surrounding villages including Bran. Taxis from the train station to the old town are around 15-20 lei.
