Hunedoara has no direct international connections. The practical approach is to reach Deva first — the regional hub 15 km away — and continue from there.
From Deva: Regular buses run between Deva and Hunedoara throughout the day (roughly every 30–60 minutes, journey time about 30 minutes). Deva is on the main Arad–Simeria–Petroșani rail line and has good connections to Cluj-Napoca (around 2.5 hours), Timișoara (roughly 2 hours), and Bucharest (around 5–6 hours). Taxis from Deva to Hunedoara cost about 40–60 lei and take 20 minutes.
From Cluj-Napoca: No direct service. Take the train to Deva (via Simeria or with a change) and then a bus or taxi onward. Total journey time is around 3–3.5 hours. Alternatively, several tour operators in Cluj run day trips to Corvin Castle, which takes care of the logistics.
From Timișoara: Train to Deva, then bus or taxi. Around 2.5–3 hours total.
By car: Hunedoara is accessible via the DN7 and DN66. From Deva, follow the DN66 south. From Cluj-Napoca, take the A3 motorway west toward Turda and then the DN1 south to Simeria, continuing on the DN66. Parking is available near the castle entrance.
Hunedoara itself has a small train station with a few connections on the local Deva–Hunedoara branch line, though the bus is often more frequent and convenient.
