Getting There

Pitești is 110 km west of Bucharest along the A1 motorway, which makes it an easy drive. By public transport, buses and minibuses to Pitești depart from Bucharest's Gara de Nord roughly every half hour and take around 90 minutes depending on traffic. There are also regular train connections from Bucharest, though the bus is usually quicker and cheaper.

If you're arriving from Transylvania, Pitești sits at the southern end of the Transfăgărășan road — one of the most dramatic mountain drives in Europe — making it a natural endpoint or starting point for that route (the road is only open in summer).
