Getting There

Perm is well connected within Russia by rail and air.

By air: Perm's Bolshoye Savino Airport (PEE) has regular flights to Moscow (about two hours), St Petersburg, Yekaterinburg, and other Russian cities. International connections are limited; most visitors connect through Moscow.

By rail: Perm II station is the main station and sits on the Trans-Siberian Railway, making it one of the most connected cities in Russia. Trains from Moscow (Yaroslavsky station) reach Perm in about sixteen to seventeen hours on the faster expresses, or twenty-plus hours on slower services. Trains from Yekaterinburg take about five hours. The station building itself, built in 1909, is worth a look.

By road: Perm is approximately 1,150 km from Moscow by road and 350 km from Yekaterinburg. The M7/M7E route connects Perm to Moscow via Kazan; the road is generally good but long. Most visitors arrive by train or plane rather than driving.
