St Petersburg's nightlife punches well above its weight. The city has a thriving underground scene — literally, in some cases, with clubs in bomb shelters and basements. The Dumskaya ulitsa area near Gostiny Dvor is the epicenter for student nightlife, while more serious music venues are scattered across the center. Many places stay open until 5 or 6 in the morning, which pairs well with the White Nights.
