St. Ilya's Church

St. Ilya's Church is a yellow late-18th-century church on the grounds of the former Okhta gunpowder works. Its circular rotunda, ringed by sixteen Ionic columns, gives it a calm classical shape that stands apart from the grander imperial churches in the centre of Saint Petersburg.

It is a specialist stop for travellers exploring the Right Bank or looking for lesser-known church architecture. The exterior is the main reason to come.
