Niš is a walkable city for the main sights. The fortress, the old bazaar area, and Kazandžijsko Sokače are all within a twenty-minute walk of each other. King Milan Square is the logical centre; the Nišava river is the natural orientation point.
The Skull Tower and Mediana are both several kilometres east along Bulevar Zorana Đinđića and are most conveniently reached by taxi. Taxis in Niš are inexpensive by Western European standards. The Crveni Krst camp and Bubanj memorial park are to the north and southwest respectively, also taxi distance.
City buses run frequently but are not necessary unless you are staying far from the centre. Cycling is possible along the Nišava promenade.
