Bardejov is in northeastern Slovakia, about 40 kilometres from the Polish border. The nearest city is Prešov, about 55 kilometres to the south, which has rail connections to Košice and Bratislava.
From Prešov, buses run to Bardejov regularly throughout the day and take about 1.5 hours. Direct buses also connect Bardejov with Košice (about 2 hours). Bardejov has a small train station but rail services are infrequent and slower than the bus on most routes — the bus is the practical choice.
By car from Košice takes about 1.5 hours; from Bratislava it is a long day's drive of around 4.5 hours. From Kraków in Poland, Bardejov is just over 2 hours across the Carpathian passes — a natural combination for anyone exploring both sides of the mountains.
