Cerro de San Cristóbal

Cerro de San Cristóbal rises just beyond the Alcazaba and gives one of the best broad views over Almería. The walk is rougher and quieter than the main fortress visit, and that is exactly why it is worth doing if you have time.

Come for the panorama rather than for polished monumentality. From here the city looks like what it is: a compact port wedged between the Mediterranean and an unusually bare Andalusian interior.

A story
The hill preserves traces of the old defensive line that once guarded the northern side of medieval Almería. The view makes the city's geography obvious: port, fortress, old quarter, and dry hills compressed into one frame.
