Carmona's municipal museum is housed in the Palacio de los Briones, a handsome Renaissance palace in the old town. The collection takes you from prehistoric times through the Roman, Visigothic, and Moorish periods up to the early modern era, displayed across rooms that make good use of the palace's architecture.
The Roman section is the strongest part, with mosaics, sculpture, ceramic finds, and objects from the necropolis that fill in the picture of what daily life looked like in a prosperous Roman provincial town. There are also coin hoards and a good display of Moorish decorative arts. The building itself is worth seeing: the central courtyard is elegant and the upper gallery has views over the rooftops. Admission is modest; the museum is closed on Mondays.
