The Church of San Pedro stands just outside the Puerta de Sevilla and is impossible to miss: its tower is a deliberate imitation of the Giralda in Seville, built in the 18th century to give Carmona its own version of Andalucía's most famous spire. It is smaller and less elaborate than its model, but from the right angle it has the same satisfying proportions.
The interior mixes Gothic, Mudéjar, and Baroque elements accumulated over several centuries of construction and renovation. The Baroque sacristy is the most ornate part — heavily decorated with gilded altarpieces and polychrome wood sculpture that rewards a close look even if it is not quite to everyone's taste. The church is open to visitors during morning and evening services; there is usually a small entry fee in the afternoons.
