Iglesia del Divino Salvador

The parish church of the Divino Salvador stands in the centre of Cortegana and is one of the finest buildings in the sierra. It dates from the 14th century and combines Gothic-Mudejar elements — a style that blends the pointed arches of Gothic architecture with the geometric ornament and tilework of Mudejar craftsmen, characteristic of the border zone between Christian and Moorish Spain.

The tower and the main portal are the most distinctive features. The church is usually open during mass and on request at other times. Paired with a walk up to the castle, it makes a natural circuit of the village's two principal monuments.
