Teruel is served by a direct rail line from Valencia (about 2.5 hours by regional train) and Zaragoza (about 2.5 hours). The train station sits at the foot of the town, and the Escalinata del Óvalo staircase leads directly up to the old city — a memorable arrival.
By car, Teruel is 180 km southwest of Zaragoza (about 2 hours) and 150 km northwest of Valencia (about 2 hours). The A-23 motorway from Valencia is fast; the route from Zaragoza via the N-330 is more scenic. There is no commercial airport in Teruel, though a small airport exists for cargo and general aviation.
