Cala Salada

Cala Salada is the finest beach within a short drive of San Antonio — a small, sheltered cove about 6 km to the northwest with crystal-clear water, pine trees growing down to the shoreline, and the kind of setting that makes Ibiza's best beaches still extraordinary despite the island's tourist industry. The water is calm, clear, and excellent for snorkelling over the rocks at the edges of the cove.

The beach gets busy in high summer but remains far less crowded than the main San Antonio beach. There is a simple beach restaurant serving seafood — the boquerones (anchovies) and grilled fish are worth having. Park at the top of the lane and walk down. Cala Saldeta, a tiny second cove just around the headland to the north, is even quieter and reached by a short path along the rocks.

A story
Cala Salada is protected from development by its access road — a single narrow lane that ends in a small car park, limiting the crowds in a way the larger beaches cannot. The small fishing hut on the rocks at the south end of the beach has been there for decades and is one of the most photographed spots in western Ibiza.
