San Antonio Abad — known simply as San An to most visitors — is Ibiza's second town, sitting on the west coast around a broad bay. It is unambiguously a package resort: the waterfront is lined with apartment blocks and hotels, the bars cater to cheap-drinks crowds, and the beach fills up in summer with sunbathers from across Europe. If you are hoping for the boutique calm of Ibiza Town, you will not find it here.
That said, San Antonio serves a purpose. Accommodation and food are cheaper than in Ibiza Town, the sunset views from the western shore are genuinely spectacular, and the famous Café del Mar strip draws a crowd that comes specifically for the music and the light. A few kilometres out of town, the coast softens into quieter coves — Cala Salada to the northwest and Cala Bassa and Cala Conta to the southwest. San Antonio works best as a base rather than a destination in itself.
