Guernika lies 35 km east of Bilbao and is best reached by the EuskoTren narrow-gauge line from Bilbao-Atxuri, which runs every 30 minutes and takes about 50 minutes. The same line continues to Bermeo on the coast. By car, take the BI-635 from Bilbao; parking is plentiful in the town centre.
There is no airport in the area — fly into Bilbao-Loiu and either rent a car or take the airport bus into Bilbao first.
