Acantilados de Los Gigantes

The Acantilados de Los Gigantes are the reason to come here. These vertical basalt cliffs rise hundreds of metres from the Atlantic, forming a dark wall along the west coast of Tenerife. From town they dominate the view; from a boat they become almost absurdly large.

Take a cliff-view boat trip if the sea is calm, or walk to viewpoints around the marina and upper streets. The cliffs are most beautiful in late afternoon, when the rock turns warmer and La Gomera often appears on the horizon.

A story
The cliffs are part of the old Teno massif, one of Tenerife's oldest volcanic landscapes. Their scale is clearest from the water, where the resort suddenly looks tiny against walls of dark basalt.
