Los Gigantes is the most dramatic of Tenerife's west-coast resorts, named for the huge basalt cliffs that rise straight from the Atlantic beside the town. The resort itself is small and steep, with apartments stepping down toward a marina, but the setting does most of the work. When the evening light hits the Acantilados de Los Gigantes, the name feels fully justified.
This is a quieter base than Las Américas or Los Cristianos, better for boat trips, cliff views, and slow evenings than for nightlife. The small Playa de Los Guíos sits beside the marina with the cliffs towering behind it, while the Charco de Isla Cangrejo offers a more local swim when the sea is calm.
Los Gigantes also sits close to the road into Masca and the Teno mountains. That makes it a good choice if you want the sunny west coast but plan to spend some of your time in ravines, viewpoints, and small villages rather than on a sunbed.
