Getting There

Burgos is on the main Madrid–Vitoria–Bilbao motorway and railway line, making it straightforwardly accessible by both car and train. High-speed AVE trains from Madrid Chamartín take around two hours and twenty minutes; trains from Bilbao run via Miranda de Ebro and take about two hours. The ALSA bus company runs regular services from Madrid (Estación Sur), Bilbao, Vitoria, and Valladolid.

The airport, Aeropuerto de Burgos, has limited connections — mostly to Barcelona and the Canary Islands — and is generally impractical for international visitors. Flying to Madrid and catching the train is a much better option. Burgos's compact historic centre is entirely walkable from either the bus station or the railway station.
