Valladolid is on the high-speed AVE line from Madrid — under 60 minutes by train from Chamartín, with frequent departures throughout the day. There are also direct AVE trains to Segovia, Salamanca, and onward to Galicia. The station, Valladolid-Campo Grande, is at the southern edge of the old centre, a 10-minute walk to the Plaza Mayor.
By car, Valladolid sits at the intersection of the A-62 (Burgos-Portugal) and A-6 (Madrid-Galicia) motorways. From Madrid the drive is about 200 km, around 2 hours and 15 minutes. The small Villanubla airport, 10 km north-west, has limited connections — most travellers fly into Madrid-Barajas and continue by AVE.
Long-distance buses to other Castilian cities run from the bus station next to Campo Grande railway station.
