Almagro is a compact Renaissance town that rewards slow walking. The Plaza Mayor with its Corral de Comedias is the unmissable centrepiece, but the network of streets behind it — with their Flemish-influenced architecture, convents, and small palaces — is genuinely beautiful. The town is small enough to cover on foot in half a day, but the Parador and the evening atmosphere make it worth staying overnight.
