Guadalajara is served by frequent Cercanías commuter trains from Madrid Atocha and Madrid Chamartín — the journey takes 55–65 minutes and trains run every half hour during peak hours. This makes it among the most accessible day-trip destinations from Madrid.
There is also a high-speed AVE station, Guadalajara–Yebes, about 15 km from the centre. This is the station for trains from Barcelona and Zaragoza, but it is inconvenient for the city itself — take the Cercanías from Madrid instead. By car, Guadalajara is 56 km northeast of Madrid on the A-2 motorway.
