Girona is on the high-speed rail line between Barcelona and France. From Barcelona Sants station, the journey takes about 38 minutes on the AVE or about an hour on slower regional trains. Trains run frequently throughout the day.
Girona also has its own airport, used mainly by Ryanair for flights from northern Europe. The airport is 12 km south of the city; buses run into the centre. If flying in via Girona, check that your onward journey is to Girona and not Barcelona — many travellers booking "Barcelona (Girona)" end up needing a bus to Barcelona.
By car from Barcelona, the journey is about 100 km on the AP-7 motorway.
