Casa Coll i Regas is Mataro's most rewarding Modernista building, designed by Josep Puig i Cadafalch for a textile family at the end of the nineteenth century. Its facade mixes floral ornament, wrought iron, carved stone, and the confident domestic display of Catalan industrial wealth.
The house is a useful reminder that Modernisme was not confined to Barcelona. If you are using Mataro as more than a beach stop, this is the architectural sight to seek out, especially when guided visits or interior access are available.
