The Serralada Litoral — the low coastal mountain range that runs behind the Maresme towns — rises directly above Sant Andreu de Llavaneres and offers straightforward hiking on well-marked trails through pine and cork oak forest. The views over the coast and the sea are the reward: on a clear day you can see across to the Maresme's flat coastline and, from the higher points, to the Pyrenees.
The trails start from the upper part of the town and can be combined into circular routes of varying lengths. The terrain is not demanding — these are hills rather than mountains — and the paths are well maintained. It is an easy way to escape the beach heat of summer for a few hours, and the forest is remarkably cool compared to the coast below.
