Sant Andreu de Llavaneres

Maresme coastal municipality north of Barcelona, set between calm beaches and forested hills.

Sant Andreu de Llavaneres is a small coastal municipality in the Maresme comarca, about 35km north of Barcelona along the Costa del Maresme. It sits between the sea and the forested hills of the Serralada Litoral, giving it a pleasant combination of beach access and green hiking trails nearby.

The beach is narrow but calm and much less crowded than those closer to Barcelona. The Archive Museum in Can Caralt — a handsome 19th-century manor house — is the main cultural attraction, documenting the town's history from its agricultural origins to the present. The town is easily reached by Rodalies train from Barcelona in under an hour.

Guide

Getting There

Sant Andreu de Llavaneres is directly on the R1 Rodalies (commuter train) line from Barcelona Sants and Passeig de Gràcia. The journey takes around 45 minutes to an hour depending on service. Trains run frequently throughout the day. The station is close to both the beach and the town centre.

By car, the town is about 35km north of Barcelona on the C-32 motorway (toll) or the N-II coastal road (slower but more scenic). Parking is generally available in the town.

Things to Do in Sant Andreu de Llavaneres

Sant Andreu de Llavaneres is a quiet town built for relaxation. The beach is the main draw in summer, and the forested hillside trails above the town give good views over the coast. The Archive Museum in Can Caralt is the one genuine cultural attraction — a well-presented local history collection in a handsome 18th-century farmhouse.
