Verín, the main town of the Monterrei comarca, is about 100km southeast of Ourense and 120km from Vigo. By car, take the A-52 motorway from Ourense — it passes through the Monterrei valley and gives good views of the castle on the hill above Verín. The journey from Ourense takes about an hour.
There is a train station at Verín with services to Ourense (approximately 1.5 hours). Buses also connect Verín to Ourense, Vigo, and the Portuguese border towns. From Porto, Portugal, Verín is about 120km and under two hours by road on the A-52/IP2.
