Morella is not easy to reach by public transport, which is one reason it has remained so well-preserved. The most practical approach is by car.
By car: From Valencia, Morella is about 180km north via the A-7 and N-232 (about 2.5 hours). From Castellón de la Plana, it is 110km (about 1.5 hours). From Barcelona, allow about 3.5 hours via the AP-7 and N-232.
By bus: Daily buses run from Castellón de la Plana and occasionally from other nearby towns. The schedule is infrequent and not suited to day trips; check the HIFE bus company timetable. The bus stops near the lower town, a short walk from the old town gate.
Day trip or overnight: Morella is frequently visited as a day trip from Valencia or the coast. However, an overnight stay transforms the experience — after the day-trippers leave in the late afternoon, the town becomes quieter and more atmospheric.
