Spring (April–June) and autumn (September–October) are the best times to visit Morella. The weather is pleasant and the landscape around the town is at its most colourful. Summer (July–August) is warm but Morella is at altitude (around 1,000m) so it is cooler than the coast; the town is busiest in summer.
Winter can be cold and sometimes foggy; Morella receives occasional snow, which makes it dramatically beautiful. The black truffle season (November–March) is a good reason to visit in winter — the restaurants serve them fresh and generously.
The Sexenni festival in August (every six years: 2024, 2030, etc.) fills the town completely; accommodation must be booked far in advance. Outside festival years, Morella is best visited during weekdays if you want to avoid coach tours.
