Restaurants at the Port

The port district in Vinaròs has a cluster of seafood restaurants on Passeig Colom and the adjacent streets, all serving essentially the same product: the day's catch from the Vinaròs fleet, with gamba roja as the signature. These are not destination restaurants in the formal sense — the setting is casual, the tablecloths are paper, and the waiters are brusque — but the quality of the raw material is exceptional.

The best strategy is to arrive in the afternoon (Spanish lunch hours, 2–4pm), choose from whatever the chalkboard says is fresh that day, and order the gambas a la plancha as a starter. Follow with arròs a banda or fideuà. Prices for a full seafood lunch with house wine run about 25–40 euros per person. Most restaurants are closed on Sunday evenings and Mondays.
