Törngrens Krukmakeri

Tucked away in a courtyard off Krukmakaregatan, just up from the river, is Sweden's oldest working pottery — operating continuously in the same workshop since 1791. The Törngren family still throws everything by hand on the wheel, fires it in the same kilns, and decorates the wares in the same brown-glaze tradition.

You can look into the workshop, watch them work, and buy the simple thrown mugs, jugs and bowls at the shop next door. The pieces are honest and functional rather than decorative — a perfect souvenir for someone who actually wants to use it.

A story
The Törngren family has been making pots in this same Falkenberg backyard since 1791, passed from father to son in an unbroken line — over two centuries and seven generations of the same family at the same wheel.
