Hermansons Handelsgård is one of the best-preserved old buildings in Haparanda, a trading house from 1832 on Storgatan. Its value is less about architectural drama than about context: this is the kind of building that made sense in a town built on border trade, river movement, and people arriving from several directions.
It is worth a look while walking the centre, especially if you are trying to see Haparanda as more than a shopping stop beside Finland.
