Spira is Jönköping's main cultural hub, a modern building on the waterfront that houses the city theatre, concert hall, and exhibition spaces under one roof. It opened in 2011 and quickly became a landmark — the building's distinctive angular profile is visible from much of the lakefront.
The programme covers theatre, dance, concerts, and visiting exhibitions. The Jönköping County Museum also runs exhibitions in the building, with a focus on regional history and art. The ground-floor cafe and restaurant have excellent lake views and are worth visiting even without a show. Check the programme in advance; performances are mostly in Swedish but some music events and exhibitions are accessible without language.
