The great Romanesque cathedral of Lund, consecrated in 1145, is the oldest in Scandinavia and the spiritual heart of the city. Its massive grey sandstone towers dominate the skyline and the interior holds an extraordinary astronomical clock from the 1380s that still performs a daily mechanical display. The crypt beneath the nave, with its forest of stone columns, is one of the finest Romanesque interiors in northern Europe.
