Sandhammaren, about 25 kilometres east of Ystad past Kåseberga, is regularly voted the best beach in Sweden: an unbroken stretch of fine white sand backed by tall dunes and pine forest. The water is clear by Baltic standards and shallow for a long way out. The beach is part of a nature reserve, with marked paths through the dunes.
Park at the small lot near the lighthouse. There are basic facilities in summer; off-season the beach is essentially empty. A 30-minute drive from Ystad along the coast.
