Stora Thor

17th-century merchant house in the old town

Stora Thor is a 1620s merchant's house on Stortorget, named after the Norse god — a relatively common practice for grand houses in Skåne. The half-timbered facade with its plastered infill and the surviving carved beams have been preserved through restoration. The building is not normally open to the public but is one of the showpiece houses on the square.

Walk around Stortorget and the lanes leading off it for the densest concentration of 17th- and 18th-century timber-framed buildings in Sweden.
