Ystad's working harbour is the busiest passenger port in Skåne after Helsingborg, with several ferry crossings a day to Rønne on the Danish island of Bornholm and to Świnoujście in Poland. The piers and breakwaters make a pleasant walk, the fishing fleet still ties up here, and the new harbour development has added cafés and a small boardwalk.
The ferries are an easy way to extend a trip — Bornholm is a three-hour crossing, Świnoujście about seven. Walk-on passengers are welcome on most sailings.
