Carouge has a good concentration of independent restaurants along Rue Saint-Joseph and the surrounding streets — Italian, Middle Eastern, and French bistros are well represented. Prices are noticeably lower than central Geneva, and the atmosphere is more relaxed. Several places have terrace seating on the piazzas in summer.
