Getting Around

Interlaken is compact enough to walk. The two train stations sit at either end of the Hoheweg, the main street, and most of the town fits between them.

PostAuto buses connect the town centre with the stations and outlying areas. Standard fares are expensive, but visitors from outside Switzerland can buy discount passes that cut the price by half. Taxis wait at the stations and most hotels.

Bikes and scooters are available to rent at the stations and around town. For day trips into the mountains, the Jungfrau railway network is included in many regional passes and is the easiest way to reach the ski areas and hiking trails above.
