The finest Gothic cathedral in Switzerland, built between the 12th and 13th centuries on the highest point of the old town. The south portal sculpture is remarkable, and the rose window — a 13th-century original — depicts the seasons and elements in vivid detail. Climb the tower for sweeping views over the rooftops to the lake.
A night watchman still calls out the hours from the belfry every night between 10pm and 2am, a tradition maintained since 1405.
