Getting Around

The old town is compact and best explored on foot. Most of the main sights are within 20 minutes' walk of the train station. The Swiss Museum of Transport is about 30 minutes' walk along the lakeside, or a short bus ride on routes 6, 8, or 24.

Bus and trolleybus services cover the wider city and suburbs; the same ticket system applies across the city. Lake boats depart from the quayside in front of the station and serve all the lakeside villages and resort towns. The Rigi and other mountain railways have their own separate ticketing, though Swiss travel passes cover most of them.
