Lucerne's sights are concentrated in a compact medieval core that can be walked in an afternoon. The covered wooden bridges are the most photographed landmarks, but don't stop there — the Musegg Wall towers, the cliff-carved Lion Monument, and the Baroque interiors of the Jesuit Church reward the visitor who lingers. The Swiss Museum of Transport on the lake's eastern edge is genuinely excellent, not just for children.
