Restaurant Fischerzunft

The Fischerzunft is one of Switzerland's most accomplished restaurants, set in a guildhall directly on the Rhine waterfront with a dining room that manages to be elegant without being stiff. The menu is French-Swiss with strong seasonal foundations — expect dishes built around local perch, veal, and whatever the markets are providing that week. The wine list is serious and the service is polished but not oppressive.

Dinner reservations are essential, particularly in summer when the riverside terrace fills quickly. Lunch is slightly more accessible. Prices are at the top end of the Swiss scale, which is already not cheap, but the kitchen earns them. If you are going to splurge once in the region, this is the place.
