Rhyfall Mühle

A restored mill restaurant right at the edge of the Rhine Falls, the Rhyfall Mühle has outdoor seating where you can feel the mist from the water and hear the falls continuously in the background. The food is honest Swiss — rösti, wiener schnitzel, fresh Rhine perch — executed without great ambition but at a standard that justifies the visit. The setting elevates everything considerably.

Arrive early for a terrace table in summer; by mid-morning the best spots are gone. The restaurant fills with Rhine Falls day-trippers at lunch, which means noise and a wait if you haven't planned ahead. The interior is pleasant enough if the terrace is full, but the point here is the location. Good for families: the children's menu is decent and the distraction of the falls is unlimited.
