Lakefront Promenade

The Quai Perdonnet runs east from the Grande Place along the lakeshore. It is flat, mostly car-free, and lined with the kind of large Belle-Epoque hotels that became the calling card of the Lake Geneva towns. Continuing east the promenade joins up with La Tour-de-Peilz and eventually Montreux — about an hour's walk all the way along the water.

The most photographed stretch is between the Chaplin statue and the giant fork, with the Alpine wall of the Dents-du-Midi opposite. At sunset the whole lake turns pink. There are benches, an open-air pool (the Bains des Dames), and several lakeside cafes along the way.
