Eating Out

Vevey has the dense restaurant lineup of a small Swiss town that knows it is on the tourist trail — quality is generally high and you can pick almost anything along the lakefront or in the old town with reasonable confidence.

For traditional fondue and Vaudoise specialities try Le Mazot behind the rue du Lac, a small old-town room that has been doing the same Alpine repertoire for decades. Denis Martin in the centre is a serious gastronomic destination — molecular cooking with a Vaudoise base, one Michelin star, and a tasting menu that runs three to four hours. For lake fish — perch, pike, fera — the lakefront brasseries opposite the Alimentarium do simple, well-prepared plates. The Saturday market is a meal in itself if you want to assemble a picnic on the lake.
