A pretty 1900-vintage funicular climbs from Vevey through the Lavaux vineyards to the village of Mont Pelerin at 810 metres, with a change of train at Chardonne. The whole trip takes about 25 minutes one way and costs the price of a regular train ticket — covered by the Swiss Travel Pass.
The top station has a hotel-restaurant and several walking paths through the vineyards back down to Vevey or out along the ridge to Chardonne. The view across Lake Geneva to the Dents-du-Midi is one of the best in the region. Trains run roughly every 20 minutes during the day.
